Speaking today at the 3rd Annual KEPRO Circular Packaging Conference 2025 held at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Nairobi, where he was the Chief Guest, DG Francis Mwangangi commended industry actors for advancing sustainable waste management models that support recycling, green innovation and job creation.
The conference brought together producers, recyclers, policymakers, and circular economy thought leaders who shared success stories and emerging solutions in sustainable packaging. Dr. Mwangangi said the insights gained will strengthen Machakos County’s ongoing plans to convert waste into income-generating opportunities for young people, while enhancing environmental stewardship.
“The ideas shared here today inspire us, and they align closely with our vision in Machakos—to transform waste into economic opportunities for our youth as we safeguard our environment,” he said.
He congratulated KEPRO for what he termed a “remarkable milestone” in Kenya’s environmental sustainability journey and called for deeper partnerships between national government, county governments, producers and recyclers in order to achieve long-term success in the circular economy space.
“We look forward to more engagements and partnerships that will scale up circular economy solutions for the benefit of our people and our planet,” he added.
The Circular Packaging Conference has become one of Kenya’s leading platforms for collaboration on waste management, packaging recovery and recycling.
