The Principal Secretary for the State Department for Aviation and Aerospace Development, PS Teresia Mbaika, today toured the Wote Affordable Housing Project to inspect the ongoing works as part of her collective responsibility within the government’s broader development agenda. The visit underscored the government’s commitment to delivering on its Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA), which prioritizes job creation, inclusive growth, and improved living standards across the country.
During the tour, PS Mbaika expressed satisfaction with the pace of construction, noting that the project is progressing impressively and remains ahead of schedule. She lauded the contractors and all stakeholders for their dedication, adding that the visible transformation of Wote’s skyline is a testament to the government’s determination to modernize urban centers and promote sustainable development.
The PS highlighted that the project has not only reshaped the physical outlook of Wote town but also generated numerous employment and business opportunities for the local community. “What is most gratifying is seeing young people and local suppliers actively involved in the construction process. This is exactly what the BETA agenda envisions—empowering communities through practical, people-centered projects,” she said.
PS Mbaika further emphasized that the Affordable Housing Programme is designed to spur nation-wide economic growth by stimulating related sectors such as manufacturing, construction, and small-scale enterprises. She noted that access to secure, decent, and affordable housing is a fundamental pillar of social and economic stability, contributing directly to the government’s vision of a dignified standard of living for all Kenyans.
She reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring that projects like the Wote Affordable Housing initiative are implemented efficiently and transparently. “We are on the right path toward building a nation where every Kenyan can live and work with dignity. The success here in Wote is a clear reflection of what can be achieved when government agencies, private partners, and local communities work together,” PS Mbaika concluded.
