President Ruto Votes in UDA Grassroots Elections, Reaffirms Commitment to Democratic Party Governance

President William Ruto has today cast his vote in the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) grassroots elections at Koilel Primary School in Uasin Gishu County, as the party conducted nationwide polls to elect officials at the polling centre level.

The grassroots elections are being held across 20 counties, with party members voting to elect 20 officials at each polling centre, in an exercise aimed at strengthening UDA’s internal democracy and leadership structures from the ground up.
Speaking after voting, President Ruto commended the large number of aspirants who stepped forward to seek leadership positions, noting that the turnout of candidates had surpassed expectations. He described the enthusiasm as a clear demonstration of growing confidence in the party and a strong desire among members to actively participate in shaping its future.
“The willingness of many members to offer themselves for leadership at the grassroots is a positive sign for our party. It strengthens UDA and advances the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda, which is anchored on inclusive growth and shared prosperity,” the President said.

He also praised party members for turning out in large numbers to vote, emphasizing that participation in the elections reflects a healthy democratic culture within the party.
“I appreciate all members who have come out to exercise their democratic right by electing party officials of their choice. This is how strong, people-driven political movements are built,” President Ruto added.

The Head of State reaffirmed UDA’s commitment to democratic governance, transparent processes, and responsive leadership, stressing that the party will continue to listen to the people and deliver on their priorities.

The ongoing grassroots elections are seen as a critical step in consolidating UDA’s structures ahead of future political engagements, while empowering members at the lowest levels to play a central role in decision-making and party leadership.
