Machakos Deputy Governor Hon. Francis Mwangangi has come out strongly in defence of Wiper Leader Kalonzo Musyoka, urging political leaders to uphold respect and decorum in their public engagements.
Speaking amid escalating political exchanges, Mwangangi criticized what he described as growing intolerance and the continued politicisation of national issues. He took issue with remarks linked to Kimani Ichung’wah, calling on leaders within the Kenya Kwanza administration to exercise restraint and avoid divisive rhetoric.
The Deputy Governor emphasized that respect among leaders is a fundamental pillar of democracy, noting that attacks on senior figures such as Kalonzo undermine national unity and weaken constructive political engagement. He described Kalonzo as a seasoned statesman whose contribution to Kenya’s political landscape deserves recognition and dignity.
Mwangangi further urged leaders to shift focus from personal attacks to issue-based politics, stressing that Kenyans are increasingly demanding accountability, honesty, and service delivery. He warned against attempts to mislead the public, adding that the electorate is more informed and expects integrity from those in leadership.
He also echoed sentiments from sections of leaders who have expressed confidence in Kalonzo’s future political prospects, maintaining that any leadership contest should be anchored on respect and fair engagement.
His remarks add to the ongoing national conversation on political tolerance, as calls continue to grow for a more civil, respectful, and people-centered approach to leadership in Kenya.
