MACHAKOS GEARS UP FOR 2026 SOUTH EASTERN KENYA NATIONAL SHOW

Machakos County is set to come alive this June as the Agricultural Society of Kenya (A.S.K) hosts the South Eastern Kenya National Show from 3rd to 7th June 2026 at the Machakos Showground.

The highly anticipated annual event is expected to draw thousands of farmers, exhibitors, agribusiness leaders, innovators, and families from across the country.

Positioned as one of the region’s flagship agricultural exhibitions, the Machakos show continues to play a central role in bridging knowledge, technology, and markets within Kenya’s lower eastern counties. It provides a platform where traditional farming practices meet modern innovation—offering practical solutions to the challenges facing farmers today.

FOCUS ON CLIMATE-SMART AGRICULTURE
This year’s theme emphasizes climate-smart agriculture and sustainable trade, a timely focus for a region that continues to grapple with erratic weather patterns and water scarcity. Exhibitors are expected to showcase drought-resistant crops, smart irrigation systems, modern livestock practices, and technologies aimed at improving productivity while preserving the environment.

The show will also spotlight value addition and agribusiness opportunities, encouraging farmers to move beyond production and tap into processing, packaging, and market expansion.

A WEEK OF LEARNING, BUSINESS AND ENTERTAINMENT
The five-day event will feature a structured programme designed to cater to different stakeholders. Activities will include pre-show judging, business exhibitions, farmers’ engagement forums, and the official opening ceremony. Dedicated days will allow farmers and industry players to interact, exchange ideas, and explore partnerships.

Beyond agriculture, the show promises a vibrant mix of entertainment and family-friendly experiences. Visitors can expect amusement parks, live performances, military band displays, and fireworks, making it both an educational and recreational outing.

BOOST TO LOCAL ECONOMY
The event is also expected to significantly boost the local economy in Machakos, with increased demand for accommodation, transport, and small-scale trade. Local businesses, vendors, and service providers stand to benefit from the influx of visitors during the show period.

PLATFORM FOR GROWTH AND NETWORKING
For exhibitors and investors, the show offers a valuable opportunity to showcase products, build networks, and explore partnerships within Kenya’s agricultural value chain. Financial institutions, government agencies, and private sector players will also be present to provide support services and investment opportunities.

OPEN INVITATION
Organizers have extended an open invitation to farmers, entrepreneurs, students, and the general public to attend and participate in the event. Whether one is looking to learn, invest, or simply experience the diversity of Kenya’s agricultural sector, the South Eastern Kenya National Show promises a comprehensive and impactful experience.

As preparations gather momentum, Machakos is once again positioning itself as a key hub for agricultural transformation—bringing together innovation, trade, and community under one roof.
