Machakos County Deputy Governor, Hon. Francis Mwangangi Kilonzo, today, led an inspection of the ongoing repair works at Nzewani Earthdam in Katangi Ward, Yatta Sub-County. The project, spearheaded by Governor Wavinya Ndeti’s administration, aims to boost water accessibility for residents and promote agricultural productivity in the region.
Speaking during the visit, Hon. Mwangangi reassured residents of the county government’s commitment to improving infrastructure and water resources.
"Governor Wavinya Ndeti’s administration is fully dedicated to delivering development projects that directly impact the lives of our people. The Nzewani Dam repair is just one of the many initiatives we have undertaken, including the ongoing Katangi-Kinyaata-Kithimani Road construction," he stated.
Local residents expressed their gratitude, acknowledging the county’s efforts to address water shortages.
"For a long time, we have struggled with water scarcity, but with the ongoing repair of this dam, we are hopeful that our challenges will soon be over," said a resident of Katangi.
Another resident echoed the sentiments, saying, "This project will not only benefit our households but also support our livestock and farming activities. We thank the county government for this initiative."
Hon. Mwangangi reiterated that the Machakos County Government will continue implementing transformative projects to uplift the livelihoods of residents.
"We are focused on ensuring that development reaches every corner of Machakos. Our promise is to keep working for the people," he concluded.
The Nzewani Earthdam repair is expected to be completed in the coming months, providing a sustainable water source for thousands of residents in Katangi Ward and beyond.
