Former CS Justin Muturi Responds to President Ruto's Claims, Alleges Sacking Over Stand on Extra-Judicial Killings

Former Cabinet Secretary Justin Muturi has strongly refuted President William Ruto's claims that he was relieved of his duties for failing to attend cabinet meetings. In a detailed statement, Muturi revealed that his sacking was a result of his vocal opposition to the government’s handling of abductions and extra-judicial killings in the country.
Muturi recalled issuing a press statement on 12th January 2025, condemning the rise of abductions and extra-judicial killings. Following this, he was summoned by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to record a statement, especially regarding the abduction of his own son. Despite submitting a comprehensive statement to the authorities and writing several letters to President Ruto, Muturi claimed that his concerns were never addressed during subsequent cabinet meetings, prompting his decision not to attend.
Muturi further questioned the President's narrative of disbanding a police squad allegedly involved in these crimes and demanded justice for the victims. He also expressed concerns about the continued abductions and killings, asking whether a new squad may be operating under the current administration.

The former CS emphasized that his sacking was directly related to his stand on human rights issues and his unwavering fight for justice, despite the government's silence on the matter.
