Mwengi Mutuse: Ukambani Has Entered a New Era of Development Under President Ruto

Kibwezi West MP Hon. Mwengi Mutuse has declared that Ukambani has entered a new era of development, following a landmark meeting with President Dr. William Ruto and over 1,600 leaders from across the region.

The high-level forum, aimed at aligning Ukambani’s development priorities with the national government agenda, saw the announcement of several major projects expected to uplift the lives of residents in Machakos, Makueni, and Kitui counties.
“This is a turning point for Ukambani,” Hon. Mutuse said. “President Ruto has shown commitment to real, lasting change in our region. The days of empty promises are over. Our people are now seeing action.”

Among the transformative projects unveiled include the tarmacking of critical roads such as:

Emali–Ukia Road

Chyuluni–Zombe Road

Kangundo–Mwala Road

Kivandini–Miseleni Road

Ikutha–Mutha–Mutomo Road

Kwa Siku–Mbondoni Road

Kamuwongo–Kandwia Road
The region is also set to benefit from major investments in:

Clean water supply projects

Electrification of underserved areas

Affordable Housing initiatives

Modern markets and infrastructure for traders

Mutuse, who is known for his development-focused leadership, emphasized that this is the kind of progress residents have long waited for. He also called on fellow leaders to support efforts that place the region's needs above politics.
“When the time for politics comes, our people will know the difference between real development and mere noise. Let us focus on what truly matters—transforming lives,” he remarked.

The meeting marks a milestone in government-county cooperation, and sets the tone for accelerated delivery of the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda in Ukambani.
