Dr. Yumbya emphasized that meaningful change in leadership can only be achieved when citizens take the initiative to register and turn out in large numbers to vote. He noted that voter apathy has in the past denied the region strong representation and urged especially the youth to see voter registration as the first step toward shaping the county’s future.
“The only way we can bring in leaders who prioritize development, integrity, and service delivery is by registering as voters. Every Machakos resident has a duty to take part in this exercise because it is through the ballot that we will determine the kind of leadership we want,” Dr. Yumbya stated. The aspirant further highlighted his commitment if elected, adding that Machakos needs a senator who will actively push for resources and policies that directly benefit the people. He assured residents that his campaign would focus on inclusive leadership that listens to and addresses the needs of all communities in the county.
Dr. Yumbya’s message comes as the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) intensifies voter registration drives across the country, with leaders urging citizens not to wait until the last minute to take part in the exercise.
