Speaking through an Exclusive interview with RADA TV today morning, Kitaka emphasized that voting remains the most powerful tool for change and development in a democratic society. He urged first-time voters to view the exercise not just as a civic duty but as a direct way of influencing leadership and policies that affect their daily lives.
The MCA noted that many young people have in the past complained of being left out of key decisions yet failed to take the initiative to register as voters. “This is the time to prepare. 2027 is not far, and leadership is determined at the ballot. Every single vote will count, and it starts with registration,” he said.Hon. Kitaka further praised the IEBC for ensuring that the continuous voter registration exercise is running smoothly across the country. He encouraged residents of Yatta and beyond to take advantage of the exercise while it is still ongoing, saying waiting until the last minute often causes unnecessary congestion and delays.
Highlighting the significance of voter registration in shaping the constituency’s future, Kitaka expressed his belief that Yatta Constituency has immense potential, but only through proper representation and accountability. “Development will only come when the right leaders are chosen, and that choice depends on voters who are ready and registered,” he noted.
The MCA also called for collaborative efforts between local leaders, civil society groups, and religious institutions in mobilizing citizens to register. He said community sensitization was key in bridging the gap of voter apathy, which has historically affected turnout in various parts of the country.
As the 2027 elections draw closer, Kitaka reaffirmed his commitment to championing development, unity, and accountability in Yatta. He concluded by urging Kenyans to treat voter registration with urgency and seriousness, reminding them that leadership choices made at the ballot will define the nation’s future for generations to come.
