MCSK CEO Dr. Ezekiel Mutua Mourns Veteran Broadcaster and Former State House Director, Sammy Lui

Kenya is mourning the loss of one of its most distinguished broadcasters and communication professionals, Mr. Sammy Lui, a veteran journalist and long-serving member of the Presidential Press Service (PPS), who also served as one of the most exceptional Directors of Functions at State House during the late President Mwai Kibaki’s administration.

In a heartfelt tribute, the Music Copyright Society of Kenya (MCSK) Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Ezekiel Mutua, eulogized Mr. Lui as a consummate professional whose eloquence, humility, and dedication elevated the standards of public communication in Kenya.“

Kenya has lost another of its distinguished sons, Mr. Sammy Lui—a veteran broadcaster, a long-serving member of the Presidential Press Service, and one of the most exceptional Directors of Functions at State House during the late President Mwai Kibaki’s era,” said Dr. Mutua.

"Lui’s mastery of English and his calm yet authoritative voice added elegance and grace to state functions. I was privileged to have him as my mentor when I served as Director of Information and Public Communications. Farewell, Lui. May God grant peace and comfort to your family,” he added.

Mr. Lui’s contribution to Kenya’s broadcast and public communication landscape spanned several decades. His articulate presentation style and professionalism made him a trusted voice in national events, shaping the tone of government communication during one of Kenya’s most transformative periods.
