A United States–based Kenyan, Abedinecho Katue, has written an open letter to Machakos Governor Hon. Wavinya Ndeti, proposing a financial settlement to end the ongoing dispute involving popular comedian and entrepreneur Sammy Kioko.
In an open letter dated November 3, 2025, Katue expressed deep concern over the closure of Mr. Kioko’s shop, a situation he said has caused immense suffering to the affected workers and their families. He noted that the standoff has not only disrupted livelihoods but also cast a negative shadow over the spirit of unity and progress in Machakos County.
“The current situation has created significant distress for Mr. Kioko and the employees who have lost their livelihoods. As leaders and members of the community, it is our collective duty to find a fair and sustainable solution,” Katue wrote.
Katue offered to personally pay Ksh. 10 million to Sammy Kioko within 24 hours to help settle the matter, on the condition that Governor Wavinya Ndeti’s office reimburses the amount within an agreed repayment period and contributes an additional Ksh. 9 million to complete the payment.
Alternatively, he said he was ready to settle the entire Ksh. 19 million debt himself, provided that the governor commits to repaying the full sum within three months through a formal legal agreement.
Plan A: Two-year repayment period — Ksh. 417,000 per month.
Plan B: Three-month repayment plan — Ksh. 6.34 million per month.
Katue emphasized that his offer carries no interest or profit motive, describing it as a gesture of goodwill aimed at restoring harmony and fairness.
“The intent is purely to assist in restoring stability and trust, ensuring that the matter is resolved promptly and with dignity for all parties involved,” he stated.
He further clarified that the repayment obligation would rest solely with Governor Ndeti in her personal capacity, not with the Machakos County Government or its residents.
Appealing to the public, Katue urged calm, objectivity, and restraint, calling on citizens to avoid politicizing or spreading speculation about the matter.
“Let us focus on dialogue, respect, and mutual understanding as the only way to achieve lasting peace,” he appealed.
In conclusion, Katue praised Governor Wavinya Ndeti for her leadership and commitment to the growth of Machakos County, expressing hope that his proposal would serve as a constructive step toward a peaceful and dignified resolution of the dispute involving Sammy Kioko’s business.
Katue, who signs off as #TheSonOfTheSoil 🇰🇪, is a Florida-based Kenyan widely known for his patriotism and philanthropic involvement in community welfare initiatives. His intervention has since attracted praise from many Kenyans who view it as a rare example of diaspora-driven goodwill and mediation.
