Following the state of Sanitation facilities at Katulani Primary School in Matuu Ward and that were making it difficult for them to participate effectively in school activities, Yatta MP Hon.Robert initiated the construction of 2 units of 4 door pit latrines for boys and girls, funded by NG- CDF Yatta. The latrines were in a truly dilapidated condition, unfit for human use. The school now enjoys new and fit latrines.
Village elders play a key role in the society, interacting with mwananchi at grassroot level, but they go unrecognised and not salaried. With immense contribution on the motion and bill to remunerate village elders and his charismatic traits to rally MPs , especially first time MPs who he is their Chairperson,village elders are finally in government payroll. Moreover, MP Hon.Robert Basil lobbied for 23 women groups drawn from different wards in Yatta to benefit with non- refundable money to help them start their own businesses as a way of making sure that women are empowered.

As a way of enhancing public connectivity in Yatta, Basil connected ABC Kithimani with Public WiFi to ease browsing and help the youth , locals, access Internet easily.
Under his influence, Co-operative bank opened a new branch in Matuu Town, a major factor that will help Saccos grow and Matuu grow.
Basil has upgraded roads in Yatta, ensuring smooth transport.
Through his influence, the United Nations Fund for Agriculture and Development ( IFAD ) supported the Kavoke and Mavoloni water projects.
Basil lobbied for the construction of Yatta Dam, which was among the 35 dams advertised by the government.
After his election, MP Basil opened additional Constituency offices in different wards, as a way of bringing government services closer to Mwananchi.
He also lobbied for devolving of birth certificates issuance at Ward levels to help mitigate challenges of transport.
Basil introduced School Feeding Program. Under his influence, Yatta received thousands of bags of rice, beans and cooking oil, which were donated by the UN world food program through the ministry of education, department of ASAL regions, NACONEK. Yatta had missed from the school feeding program for many years, but through his hard push, it lastly benefitted.
