Machakos County In Partnership With I Love Africa ,Commissions A New Borehole At Machakos G.K Prison

On Monday afternoon, Machakos County Government represented by Machakos Chief of Staff  - Lawrence Ngovi,  officially commissioned a new Borehole at Machakos G.K Prison.

The exercise was in partnership with Machakos development partner, I Love Africa- a Korean NGO, whom Machakos County has walked together in the journey to drill, equip and power the Borehole. 
Provision of clean water for domestic consumption has been a key component in Governor Wavinya's broad agenda. 

Chief of Staff Lawrence Ngovi, said that Machakos County government is committed to substantially improve access to drinking water and other uses in the county .

Machakos G.K Prison hosts more than 2,000 people including about 1,000 inmates and similar number of Prison staff and their families.  The huge community puts pressure on the demand for water.
According to Ngovi, the Borehole comes through as a relief to the Machakos G.K Prison community.  It will ease the pressure on the Principal source of water which distributes the commodity across the town.

The solar - powered pump will also present the huge benefit of eliminating the high cost of electricity.

According to Ngovi, the Governor's dream is to see the residents of Machakos County access water within the shortest distance possible and use the resource to grow food and trees to actualize her agenda of ' Chakula Mezani,  Pesa Mfukoni' philosophy. 

Machakos G.K Prison administration thanked the County government and I Love Africa NGO for such a humane project , promising to take care of the project.

Governor Wavinya Ndeti's Commitment In Nurturing Machakos Youths Talents.

Governor Wavinya Ndeti noted that her government is fully committed to empowering the lives of Machakos Youths positively. 

Speaking at Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos Town during her Tournament Finals, Governor Wavinya said that her administration will keep allocating funds to help nurture youths talents in the County.

Wavinya said it has been fours months of thrilling football action where 640 teams comprised of over 14,000 young men and women across the 40 wards of Machakos County showcased amazing talent.
The County Boss said a total of over 2,500 football matches have been played in the run up to the Grand Finale which brings this year's tournament to an end today

Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka lauded the Governor for supporting the youth.

“This is to sensitise our youth that they can also earn a living through their various talents like sports. We have realised there are a lot of talented youth and we are keen on unearthing the gems in various specialties,” Kalonzo said.
Kalonzo alluded that sports have played a significant role in reducing youth indulgence in unconstructive habits like alcohol and drug abuse
