"Shun Corruption ! It's a serious threat to development in Kenya"- Governor Wavinya

Wavinya Ndeti - Machakos County Governor has challenged Kenyans to shun corruption, terming the vice a serious threat to development and service delivery.

"Corruption is a serious threat to development in this country. Let's shun corruption for the growth of this country. Let's help transform Kenya for a promising future "- said Governor Wavinya

Speaking on Friday during an Easter Mass at Our Lady of Lourdes cathedral in Machakos town, Wavinya urged Christians to stay away from the vice as one way of helping authorities in delivering essential services to the public.
"You all know county taxes are supposed to be paid through MPESA service. But you still find people making payments in cash. Both the giver and the recipient are on the wrong because they aid in encouraging graft," said Wavinya

She added that making payments through MPESA, the county government will be in a position to offer better services to the people.

"Forget about the noise by naysayers. I will ensure that your taxes are well utilized. Those making noise are used to plunder public resources," she added.
Deputy Governor Francis Mwangangi, who accompanied Wavinya, echoed her sentiments, urging Christians to shun the sin of corruption.

The DG lauded the governor's yesterday's election as the chairperson of the South Eastern Kenya Economic Bloc (SEKEB) during a Summit meeting held in the neighbouring Makueni County.

Machakos Diocese Bishop King'oo Wambua said that the church will keep praying for the country to fully transform.
