MACHAKOS MINISTER FOR ROADS AND TRANSPORT RITA NDUNGE NDUNDA URGES MOTORISTS TO DRIVE CAREFULLY TO REDUCE ACCIDENTS

According to reports by the National Transport and Safety Authority ( NTSA ) and the Kenya Police show that about 4,000 Kenyans lose their lives annually through road accidents with the numbers increasing by about five percent. 
Addressing the Media, Machakos Minister for Roads and Transport Rita Ndunge Ndunda, said it was important for drivers and all road users to observe speed limits as she attributed to human failure for most of the road crashes witnessed in the country.

Rita asked all drivers to be more careful on roads, drive safely and highly ensure consideration of other road users.

The minister moreover added that the department is committed to ensuring that the most vulnerable road users are protected through enforcement measures and designs to ensure people are safe.

Minister Rita also pointed out that the department will mitigate challenges of road safety on the roads in Machakos. 
"We try to promote road safety in Machakos and make the public aware and understand that speeding is a major risk of road crashes "- said Rita 

Indeed, Rita noted that as a department, they will partner with other stakeholders including the Traffic Police and NTSA to ensure that Machakos residents are safe on roads during this festive season and after.
