Speaking to the media on Sartuday at Muthini area in Machakos County, Catherine Mutanu Raphael - Minister for Water in the County, appealed to the members of public to support her efforts in curbing rampant Vandalism of infrastructure to avoid frequent disruption of water supply .
Minister Mutanu said the practice of unscrupulous persons stealing the departments' solar panels, Water pipes, water meters among many other equipments, is on a steady rise, terming the habit as immoral and immature.
She noted that the vice if it persists, may further complicate water supply in Machakos County
According to Minister Mutanu, Machakos County has lost large amount of money, as a result of replacing solar panels and deconstruction of key piping and water connection systems.
“One of the key challenges we are having is vandalism or interfering with our infrastructure and as such making service delivery a challenge. Once we have our equipment vandalised, it means it will interrupt water supply and interfere with quality of water to Machakos People. I am appealing to you all to be on the lookout incase you suspect anyone trying to interfere with our water supply chain"- added Mutanu
Following the severe water shortage in Kathemboni, Muthini and Eastleigh areas in Machakos Town Constituency, Minister Mutanu revealed that there was pipe breakage and new pipes are been installed and replaced with the colonial pipes, and regular water supply within the areas will be initiated soonest.
