Scouts In Machakos County Holds Founder's Day Celebrations At Katoloni Scouts Centre

Scouts from various schools in Machakos County, about 32 schools, held Founder's Day Celebrations At Katoloni Scouts Centre in memory of the founder of the movement, Baden Powell.

Addressing the Media during the ceremony, Machakos County Scouts Chairperson- Martin Masai,said that the Scouts movement provides members with excellent opportunity to reflect on the enduring values and principles of the movement.

"The event that we've had today here at Katoloni, is what Scouts call a founderee. Ordinarily, the event is held on every February 22nd worldwide, in remembrance of the founder of the movement and in Kenya, we remember the founder Baden Powell, on this day "- said Martin Masai

Masai noted that not only in Katoloni, but also other similar ceremonies were held in different counties in the country, with the National event been held at Nyeri County, where the founder of the movement, Baden Powell and his wife, are buried.

Katoloni Scouts Centre is the regional Scouts Centre for Scouts, according to Machakos County Scouts Chairperson, Martin Masai.

"We always converge here at Katoloni Scouts Centre for various events. We also hold training camps here among many other activities. This has also been a Centre for World Jamboree, so Katoloni is a hope for Scouts In the region"- said Masai

Over 1000 Scouts from about 32 schools in the region, all categories, converged at Katoloni Scouts Centre for the Founder's Day Celebrations.

"Scouting is a way of life, that makes one wholesome, gives you teachings that gives one responsibilities. Teachings of scouts makes one a responsible, reliable citizen "- added Masai

Masai noted that this year’s theme, ‘Scouts Innovating Climate Change Solutions,’ underscores the pressing need for us all to stand in the gap and contribute strategic solutions to combat climate change.

‘‘Currently, the most formidable environmental challenge we face is climate change, affecting both the young and the old. Therefore, armed with your pledge, each of you is called upon to actively participate in creating a better world by contributing to solutions that will effectively address the climate crisis"- said Masai.
